The Bigger Picture

I worked for many years in the spa industry developing a passion for customer service.  I worked with amazing staff and clients in that time and developed strong personal connections with many.  I specialized in sales, staff training and management, customized skin treatments, product education and treatment design and implementation. Although I have since moved on from that field I take with me a strong desire to maintain a healthy body and mind and to connect with people in a way that is meaningful and purposeful.

In the past few years my interest in social media, blogging and new technologies has blossomed into a full blown passion.  I absolutely love that I can connect with people who share similar interests while utilizing the many cool applications and technologies that allow us to share our stories in such a rich and vibrant way.  However, all the technologies and gadgets in the world can’t replace the personal connections we all need to feel alive, to feel human.  It is, therefore, my ultimate goal to do my best to contribute to building a strong sense of community in the world I live by connecting with people on a personal level.

I have a keen desire to know stuff.  I have studied a variety of topics: business management, kinesiology, psychology, Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), fitness and nutrition and massage, meditation, reiki, medical and traditional esthetics.  I taught English in Japan for nearly 4 years, and have travelled to many cool and faraway places including Luxembourg and Turkey. Travelling and living in other cultures is one of the best ways I know of understanding how vast our differences are as people.  It also pinpoints that at the end of the day we all have the same basic need to connect with others in meaningful ways.  We all want to matter, no matter our culture, background, experiences or opportunities.

I pride myself on trying to figure out what I am supposed to be learning.  I know for sure that I don’t know much.  I can also be stubborn.

I have taken courses in personal development, see a counsellor occasionally but don’t consider myself at all enlightened.

I wear sunscreen always and perhaps drink too much red wine.

I’m a parent ‘over 40′ which is full of surprises. This is the best time of my life. This is the most exhausted I have ever been. And still so much to learn, see and do.

I am a stay-at-home mom for now. I am actively involved in my community.  I live in a brand new co-op and hope to be part of the Board of Directors that will soon be elected.  In the meantime, my  travels these days keep me close to home or on the net researching my dream job, and blogging to my heart’s content in between diaper changes and picking up Lego.

My ultimate personal mission is to enjoy my life to the fullest, getting a hint or two on how to do that by looking through my child’s eyes.

Thanks for reading.

Namaste
